Accessibility is a conversion issue
If visitors can't use your form, they leave. Accessibility and conversion work overlap more than most marketing decks admit, especially on mobile, where a big share of Australian traffic often lands.
Fix these blockers first
Tiny tap targets
Buttons and links that are hard to hit on a phone kill intent faster than most headline tweaks.
Unlabelled forms
Placeholders aren't labels. Screen readers and autofill both suffer when fields are unclear.
Colour-only status
Errors shown only in red fail some users and anyone reading the screen outdoors.
Keyboard traps
Pop-ups and menus you can't close without a mouse block a real share of people.
Video without captions
Plenty of people watch with the sound off, at work or on public transport.
If your own team can't complete an enquiry on a phone in thirty minutes, your customers already can't.
A 30-minute accessibility pass
Zoom text to 200%. Navigate with keyboard only. Turn on grayscale and check the primary call to action. Complete your own contact form on mobile data, not office Wi-Fi.
Build it into the system
Design defaults
Consistent heading order, focus states, alt text standards and form error patterns.
Content standards
Plain-language links, clear button text and captions as a normal publishing step.
QA checklist
Accessibility checks in every release, not a one-off audit after launch.
Measure the commercial impact
Compare enquiry rate, form completion and 'website' support tickets before and after fixes. The win isn't the longest compliance PDF. It's a site that works for more people, more of the time.
